I wear many hats, but mostly I write middle grade and YA fiction. I love nature and am passionate about sharing the natural world with young people. All animals (minus a select few) are my favorite animals, but if pressed, I will tell you that my favorite animals are cats, chickens, horses, turtles, snakes, octopuses, woodcocks, platypuses, screech owls, lizards, hamsters, hawk moths, koalas, sharks, anglerfish, ravens, bats, possums, Virginia rails, jumping spiders, moon snails, blobfish . . . You see where this is going.

When I am not writing, I edit books for practicing attorneys. (I used to be a litigator, the scariest kind of lawyer.) I live in New York’s Hudson Valley with my family.
